Umiisyu Women Group Makaani

Theme: Food Security and Women Empowerment

Duration: 3 Weeks

The women group comprise of 30 women. It is located in Makaani village in Makueni County next to Tsavo East National Park. The main economic activities are agriculture and livestock keeping. However the area received minimal rainfall which make it hard to sustainable agriculture to take place. Therefore women become together and make a group to start vegetable farming through irrigation. Therefore their main focus is food security.

Volunteer Activities: Vegetable farming, Home visit, rope making,construct of cereal gantry, teaching in primary school, shearing ideas with community and group members and group members on Eco-tourism  venture.

Accommodation : Volunteers will be accommodated in primary school walking distance to the project site.
